Why Ducted Air Conditioning Is the Ultimate in Home Comfort
Ducted air conditioning systems are an all-in-one solution that are concealed in your ceiling void out of sight. The only thing that is seen are your ceiling diffusers or wall grills. This is where the airflows out of and leaves a clean crisp finish. The air supply is delivered to all rooms of your home via flexi-duct which are also concealed inside the ceiling void. All of this is controlled from a central control panel or a smart device.
This aesthetically pleasing finish, while having complete control from a centralised point to create an environment with consistent temperature, is why ducted air conditioning is the ultimate in home comfort.
So if you’re looking for an all-in-one solution for your entire home, a ducted air conditioning installation is the right choice. To discuss our ducted air conditioning installation Sydney, call us on 1300 1 READY and we’ll perform a free site visit.
Diffusers, Zoning & Zone Control Systems
Ducted Air Conditioning Diffuser or Wall Grill Options
As described above, the air produced by the ducted system flows through flexi-duct, out through a diffuser or wall grill, and into the room it is intended to heat or cool. This is where you get to choose a design that aesthetically suits your home’s interior.
So, what is the difference between a diffuser and a wall grill? Well, an air conditioning diffuser is used to cover vent openings in the ceiling and a wall grill is used to cover vent openings in walls. They both have louvers for controlling the direction of air flow into the room.
The most popular and commonly used ceiling diffusers are round diffusers and multi directional diffusers. Conversely, the most popular and commonly used wall grills are linear bar grilles and linear slot grilles.
Ducted Air Conditioning Zone Options
Ducted air conditioning zones provide you with the ability to adjust the airflow to each room in your home through a central zone control panel. They also allow you to turn on and off each room individually without impacting other rooms in the house.
For instance, a two zone layout separating upstairs and downstairs allows for targeting bedrooms during the night and living rooms during the day.
The most common layouts include two, four, six, and eight zones, which depend on the number of rooms in your home, the layout of the house, and how each room is used. Moreover, it is possible to add zones later on, although it is not ideal, if your home layout changes.
Ducted Air Conditioning Zone Control Systems
When introducing zoning, you will need a zone control system to control the air delivered into each room.
Although most ducted air conditioners come with a controller, you will need to upgrade. You can purchase from either the air conditioner manufacturer, or from a third party provider such as:
- iZone.
- MyAir
- AirTouch
We supply and install all three zone control systems.
Furthermore, using a third party supplier allows for increased functionality where you can be control your air conditioner with a smart device.
Regardless of the solution you choose, the ducted zone control panel should be placed in a central area, such as the living room, for easy access and convenience.
