What Is A Bulkhead Split System Air Conditioner?

How a Bulkheads Split System Installation Works

A bulkhead split system is a specific type of split system head unit that is ideal for rooms in need of a discreet installation, with only the air intake and discharge grilles being visible.

This type of installation offers multiple benefits, such as maximising wall space for furniture, decor, and fittings, as well as providing superior visual appeal compared to wall-mounted split systems. Plus, it has limited impact on the room acoustics, since the indoor units are already whisper-quiet, and even more so when installed behind a plasterboard.

Like all air conditioning installations, a bulkhead installation involves connecting the indoor unit to the outdoor compressor via refrigerant lines that pass through the ceiling cavity, with the outdoor unit typically mounted at ground level or on brackets.
