Split System and Ducted AC Installation - Connecting Outdoor Unit Connected to Switchboard via New Circuit

What to expect on the day of your ducted installation.

On The Day Of Your Ducted Installation

After loading the work vans with your brand-new ducted air conditioner and setting off to your home, we will send you a text message to keep you abreast of our expected time of arrival.

Text Message On Approach from Ready Electrical and Air Conditioning

Upon arrival, one of our technicians will greet you politely and confirm the job details with you to make sure that everyone is on the same page. Specifically, we will discuss the ducted layout, consisting of the diffusers or wall grills, the positioning of the outdoor compressor unit, and the zoning of the rooms.

Ducted Installation Aspects Inside Your Home

After all aspects have been verified, we begin by moving furniture and laying down drop sheets on the floor around our working areas to contain any dust or debris. Inside the house, we tackle the diffuser or wall grill placements first, cutting out the necessary openings and installing them immediately. This is done in order to keep our work area concise and concentrated within the one area – the return air hole. Through this hole, we gain access to the ceiling void and are able to place the ducted internal unit there. At the culmination of the job, the return air hole is concealed with a return air grill, creating a tidy and neat finish.

Ducted Connections Inside Ceiling Void

Once the indoor unit is affixed, we begin running the refrigerant pair coil tubing through the ceiling void and connecting it to the indoor unit, making sure that all connections are securely made to prevent any leaks. We then proceed to connecting the drain pipe and the interconnecting cable between the indoor and outdoor unit.

It is worth noting that when the indoor unit is in cooling mode, condensation forms on the unit, hence the drain pipe draws the water away from your home to reduce the risk of damage or mould.

Finally, in the ceiling void, we connect the flexi-duct, zones and zone controller links. Flexi duct facilitates the supply air to circulate from the internal unit to the ceiling diffusers, while the zones sit in between the flexi-duct and control the air flow to zoned areas of your home.

Ducted Installation Aspects Outside Your Home

After completing the work inside the ceiling void, we move outside to begin connecting the outdoor unit. We attach the pair coil and interconnecting cable before evacuating the refrigerant lines to purge any air or impurities.

Subsequently, we connect the interconnecting cable and isolator switch, while ensuring they remain discreet by encapsulating them in Colorbond trunking. This trunking is available in a variety of colours, which we will can match to your existing outdoor facade or guttering.

Ducted AC Electrical Connections

When it comes to the electricity, adhering to Australian standards, we connect the power source to an isolator switch. This enables our technician to simultaneously switch off the power to both the indoor and outdoor unit for servicing purposes.

Lastly, for maximum safety, we make the connection to the switchboard last of all, ensuring there is no power going to the unit while other works are in progress. Safety first!

Ducted Installation Testing & Run Through

After completing the connection of the outdoor unit, we check that the air conditioner is functioning at full capacity. Next, we provide you with a thorough demonstration of your brand new ducted air conditioning system, including the different settings on the central control panel and how to use on/off timers.

Finally, we make sure to leave your home with respect, vacuuming up debris and replacing all furniture before departing.
