How The Split System Installation Process Works
After we have loaded the work vans with your brand new split system air conditioner and we’re on the way, we will send you a text message so that you are kept up to date of our arrival time.
When one of our technicians arrive they will politely introduce themselves and re-confirm the job with you so that everyone is on the same page.
In particular, the locations of the indoor split system head unit and the outdoor compressor unit. These are the main two components of the installation and govern the piping, electricity and water services.
You’ll know when we have arrived when you see this out your window…
Starting the Indoor Split System Installation
Once everything has been confirmed we start by removing furniture and placing drop sheets on the ground to catch dust and debris. Next, we screwing the mounting bracket for the indoor unit to the agreed position. Then we drill a hole in the wall to get the insulated piping, waste water and electrical cables outside. This is where the loud noises will occur, especially in double brick houses and most apartments.
Outdoor Split System Installation
Once the indoor unit is secured on the wall we move outside to the outdoor unit.
We start working on the refrigerant insulated piping, waste water and bringing in electricity from the switchboard or a local power point.
The commissioning of the outdoor unit begins with connecting the refrigerant piping. This step is extremely important to ensure no leaks.
Next we move onto waste water and power connections. This is where being dual trade qualified split system air conditioning installer and a licensed electrician matters.
Once we have connected the power we connect the pump vacuum and compression gauges to release the refrigerant gas. We use our pressure gauges to ensure the unit reaches the correct pressure and that there are no leaks.
To keep these services discreet, we encapsulate them inside Colorbond trunking. The trunking comes in multiple colours and we colour match it to your existing outdoor facade or guttering depending on your preference.
When it comes to the electricity, we connect the power source to an isolator switch as per Australian standards. This allows our technician to switch off all power to the indoor and outdoor unit when servicing or repairing the unit. Safety first!
Completing The Split System Installation & Cleaning Up
After we have completed the connection of the outdoor unit we clean up after ourselves, vacuum up debris and replace the furniture where we found it. We treat your home with respect and leave it as we found it – as though we were never there.
We also take rubbish with us including all the packaging materials your new unit comes in. If we performed a replacement spilt system installation we even take the old unit with us at no extra charge.
The last thing we do before we leave your premise is check the air conditioner is working at full capacity and give you a full run through on how to operate the air conditioner.
We show you all the different settings on the AC remote and help you schedule on/off timers.
Job Done!
